The BOS Ice Tea unleash the lion game was a collaborative project between the multimedia and graphic design departments at the University of Johannesburg. We were tasked with taking an existing South African brand, applying a narrative and creating a campaign around it. The narrative we had chosen was a modification on a traditional african tale where a young boys parents were eaten by a lion and he was to defeat the lion to save his parents. The lion character tied in well with the existing BOS logo and brand and we decided that the BOS lion would be trapped and it was the players task to unleash the lion.
The campaign was based around the game. The user would start out by purchasing a limited edition BOS Ice tea can which would then allow them to unlock the game via the Facebook games platform. They would play through the game level by level learning about the BOS brand and ethos before being able to unleash the lion and claim a ticket to an exclusive event.
